The predominant religion in Kuwait is Muslim, therefore a majority of the population observes traditional Muslim holidays and customs. Most major credit cards are accepted; however, it is advisable to inquire with your financial institution regarding acceptability. Travelers checks are widely accepted. To avoid additional exchange rate charges, checks should be taken in U.S. Currency or Pounds Sterling. The import and export of foreign and local currency is unrestricted. Alcohol, Pork Products, and pornography are illegal in Kuwait.
