The predominant religion in Bangladesh is Muslim, therefore a majority of the population observes traditional Muslim holidays and customs. U.S./Bangladesh relations have improved dramatically since Bangladesh received its independence from Pakistan in 1971. There is only a limited acceptance of credit cards. Inquire with your financial institution for acceptability. All foreign currency exchanged must be entered on a currency declaration form. Re-conversion of local currency is permitted up to 25% of the amount exchanged upon arrival.
