Credit cards are not accepted in Afghanistan and there are no Automatic Teller Machines. Travelers checks are not recommended. Most people rely on satellite or cellular telephone communications even to make local calls. Cellular phone service is available locally in Kabul and some other cities. Internet access through local service providers is limited.
