Botswana is a country in southern Africa with a stable democratic government and a growing economy. The average GDP of Botswana is $13.9 billion (2003 est.). The primary products of Botswana are diamonds, copper, nickel, coal, textiles, white maize, cowpeas, and chemical products. Botswana's major exports partners are European Free Trade Association (EFTA), Southern African Customs Union (SACU), and Zimbabwe. The predominant religion in Botswana is Christianity, therefore a majority of the population celebrates traditional Christian holidays. Credit cards are accepted on a limited basis, and it is advisable to first inquire with your financial institution for acceptability. Money should only be exchanged at the airport or in major towns. There is no restriction on the importation of local or foreign currencies, provided it is declared upon arrival in Botswana.
